GAN achieves two NYCxDESIGN 2023 awards
The new MANGAS OUTDOOR space and the GIRO rugs, recognized at the eighth edition of the awards given by Interior Design Magazine in New York.
On Thursday, May 18, in a ceremony hosted from New York by Cindy Allen, the director of Interior Design Magazine, two of the new GAN collections won NYCxDESIGN 2023 Awards. Once again, these awards pay tribute to the talent and diversity of designers, creators and manufacturers by celebrating their most outstanding projects and products in categories that span the major areas of design, from architecture to interiors, from products to accessories.
The MANGAS collection, by Patricia Urquiola, breaks boundaries once again ten years after its birth, exploring new paths outdoors with the same level of volume and comfort, but using textures and materials, such as 100% recycled PET, adapted for outdoor use. MANGAS OUTDOOR has won in the “Outdoor Furniture Collection” category with its open and flexible proposal of handmade rugs, modules, and poufs from India that focuses on revitalizing craftsmanship, circular economy, and well-being in equal measure. In the words of the designer herself, MANGAS OUTDOOR creates spaces that blend seamlessly with nature, where functionality meets aesthetics, through colors that evoke the natural landscape, such as terracotta, stone gray, white, and touches of blue.
On the other hand, as a result of a new chapter in the collaboration with MUT Design, the GIRO series has won first prize in the “Residential flooring” category. Using the hand-tufting technique, GIRO experiments with color, geometry and textures and creates a graphic play with an Op-Art feel in virgin wool. The design is based on a succession of spirographic curves that generate the optical illusion of a tube rolled up on itself. The rugs, available in three main colors: violet, peach, and graphite, feature different textures and heights to enhance the sense of depth and volume.
