In 2009, I turned to Omer Arbel, a friend and an exceptionally talented Vancouver-based architect, to design the new Kiosk showroom on King. The showroom had to be a deserving showcase for some of the world’s most distinctive contemporary furniture. It had to have great spatial complexity to engage the visitor and stimulate expectation and discovery. The showroom had also to offer the passersby a window into the exciting world of creative and innovative design that we at Kiosk are passionate about.
A key element of the project was to integrate the building’s three levels and create a natural flow through the 20,000-square-foot space. Omer achieved this with a dramatic stair system with expanded floating landings. The varied display spaces were woven together to create a subtle path that engages the visitor in a journey of exploration.
Kiosk at 288 King street east opened November 2010.
It is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the standards of excellence associated with the many companies we represent, and to Toronto’s ever growing support for all that is modern.
If you have not visited yet, we hope you will soon. Let us show you around and share in our excitement. If you have visited, we value your feedback and would love to hear from you with your comments and suggestions. And we would love to welcome you back.
