Tufty-Time
20.
Twenty years on, Patricia Urquiola's iconic system learns a new curve.

Familiar rhythm.
New freedom.
Tufty-Time 20 keeps the deep, upholstered grid that made the original unmistakable, then loosens the plan.
Patricia Urquiola first designed Tufty-Time in 2005 as an informal modular landscape. For its twentieth anniversary, the volumes, padding and seat height were revisited to increase comfort while preserving the system's distinctive tufted character.
The defining addition is a curved module. Straight lines can now bend into arcs, open circles and more sociable arrangements that turn the sofa toward the room rather than simply across it.

A modular sofa
that can turn.
Seats, corners, terminal elements and ottomans can build linear, sectional or island compositions. Curved units shift the geometry from a strict grid toward fluid gathering spaces; integrated service elements add a practical surface without interrupting the upholstered landscape.
From grid
to gathering place.
The tufted modules read as one continuous surface, even as the plan changes direction. A composition can define a room's centre, wrap a conversation area or separate zones while remaining visually low and open.

More comfort.
Made to come apart.
The internal frame combines tubular steel and steel profiles. Flexible cold-shaped polyurethane foam establishes the volumes, with a polyester-fibre cover softening the surface. Optional back cushions combine down and polyester fibre.
The system's new construction is fully disassemblable. That makes individual materials easier to separate and recover at the end of their useful life—an important technical change concealed beneath a familiar, generous form.

Plan the social
shape first.
Start with the views and conversations the seating should support—not only the nearest wall.
Use straight modules for structure and curved elements to soften circulation or form a gathering arc.
Place service elements where a table is useful without breaking the composition's rhythm.
Choose fabric for the room's use, light and colour while considering how the tufting will catch shadow.
Shape the room
around living.
