Archibald.
A lounge chair whose relaxed folds are finished with the precision of tailoring.

Softness,
held in line.
Archibald makes comfort visible: deep folds relax across the surface while a slender metal base keeps the silhouette light.
Jean-Marie Massaud balanced a broad, enveloping seat with slim feet and a clearly drawn perimeter. The upholstery is allowed to gather naturally, then controlled by vertical pleats and precise edge stitching—a casual gesture resolved with unmistakable Poltrona Frau discipline.
The result can sit quietly in a restrained room or become its focal point through colour and contrast stitching.

Jean-Marie
Massaud.
Born in Toulouse, Massaud studied at ENSCI–Les Ateliers in Paris and opened his own studio there in 1994. His work spans furniture, industrial design and architecture, with the person using each design at its centre.

One gesture.
More ways to settle in.
The original Archibald armchair established the collection's language. Archibald Large gives that form a more generous scale, while Archibald Gran Comfort places a down-filled leather or fabric cover over an especially light steel structure. Coordinated ottomans complete the lounge setting.
A strong chair
without heaviness.
The broad headrest and generous seat give Archibald a clear presence, but the raised base preserves space and sightlines around it. Used as a pair, the chairs establish a conversation area without building a visual wall.

Relaxed on the surface.
Precise underneath.
The original armchair uses a steel support structure, polyurethane foam padding and elastic-belt springing. Cast-aluminium feet and a tubular-steel base carry the generous seat with minimal visual weight.
On Archibald Gran Comfort, the idea becomes more layered: a beech seat, steel back frame, elastic belts, shaped polyurethane cushions and a goose-down quilt are assembled so the external cover can be removed. The natural drape remains, but every fold is supported by a carefully resolved structure.

Choose the chair
around the posture.
Select the original, Large or Gran Comfort according to the room and the degree of enclosure you want.
Use leather to emphasize the folds and edgework, or selected fabric for a softer reading.
Contrast stitching makes the tailored construction more graphic; tone-on-tone keeps it quiet.
Add the coordinated ottoman where a fully extended lounge posture is important.
